Discovering the truth of NCMI

I have had NCMI a lot on my mind the last 4-6 weeks. For the last 6 years Mark and I have done in-depth research into this movement and every now and then we get major breakthroughs, we almost go through seasons (if that is the right word) of highs and lows, seasons where our mail box is loaded with personal messages and testimonies and seasons where I feel our fight for truth has taken 10 million steps backwards.

The last few weeks have been a very strange time; NCMI has been a big highlight at the moment on many social mediums.  Are people starting to see what this movement is about? I think so, and not because of any blog or social groups on the net – but because the movement is slipping up and God is revealing the truth.

Just to back track a little from Forced to Hides last post, early this year we got a message from a person who lived in the same town as Tyrone Daniels, the person was concerned about the lavish life style that “a pastor” was living. That’s how we found out about the bazaar giveaways. We conducted our research into the statements made about his lifestyle only to find out that in this movement it was condoned and even justified by his follows. Justified to the extent that I was told by leaders that he is reaching into a wealthy community and he therefore needs to live up to their standards to reach them, that was also the motivation behind the great giveaway. (Which in fact offended many people)

I can argue their justification until I am blue in the face, because if you are a NCMI follower, regardless of what I say, regardless of what others think, regardless of what the word of God says and the greatest Man that ever walk this earth did and the example He left for us by giving Himself for us – they will find a way to shoot me down because how can anyone go against their great leader – Tyrone.

But it seems to me that this was their down fall, this seems to me that they have taken this circus to far.  Tyrone lives in a multi-million dollar neighborhood; he drives a Cadillac Escalade and a new Landrover, and has been spending a very large sum of money on renovations. He has also been seen on a Harley – whether that Harley was the same bike that was given away its still to be confirmed. Does this sound like the lifestyle of the head of a non-profit organization (Benny Hinn comes to mind with his private jet)

Has God rewarding Tyrone for his great works as I was told by everyone that follows this movement? Hmmmm, I don’t know about that! What about the luxuries the churches spend on their church buildings, also to attract people to God they say! Yes I know the temple was lined with Gold, but we not talking about the temple, we are talking about churches in the year 2010. We are talking about churches that rather buy 3 very large projectors and fancy lights and smoke machines (no kidding but this is a post for another day) in a world so full of  pain, suffering, starving babies, abortion, murder and the list goes on. You keep telling yourself that it is justified, that it’s to reach the lost, to mix with the crowd, to attract the people to attend church while the rest of the world’s eyes are being opened though such actions. Our local church has a train looking vehicle that transports the kids from one side of the church to the other while babies are being abandoned and left for dead.  Again it is pointless using this point to a NCMI follower, but I will let you decide for yourself:


In closing I would like to say this, as administrators on this blog, Mark and I have read many testimonies, many stories of heart break, stories of abuse both sexually and physical, of elders and leaders life styles and behavior. I wish that people will come out with their experiences, I wish that I can show you each and every email we have every received from people sharing their story, looking for hope, looking for God and healing, but most of the time I think their experience has just caused them to much hurt that they rather run in the opposite direction of God. How can a church break down a person so much? Sadly often the victims of this movement are the people who question the leadership, the people who would rather follow their heart and Gods true word then lay their lives down for the elders of their church. Does this sound like a church of Christ to you?

I would like to encourage every person to share their story publicly, if you have sent us a personal message before, find the courage to tell others about it. Your experience may help someone else; it may help them find healing. Who knows it may even open people’s hearts and eyes about the truth of NCMI, and if someone who is thinking about leaving a NCMI church, your story may help them to find the courage to leave because if you have been involved in an NCMi church you know how hard it is to leave.

Maybe we should make EX NCMI more “user friendly” so that there is an easier means for you to share your experience.

  1. Hello, I just visited the church where Tyrone is now. Let me tell you…his house isn’t that big. I don’t know about any renovations but he was paying someone in the church to do some upkeep…someone whose job fell through and needed the employment to feed his family while a new job came around. Tyrone and his family dress like anyone else…and the church doesn’t even own a church building right now.. They rent out a theater every Sunday until they can get a permanent place.

    And Tyrone isn’t so GREAT. He is just a man doing a job and praying to God he does it right.

    1. Thank you for your post. I would like to address a few things.

      The person that gave testimony as to his lavish lifestyle sees Tyrone on a daily basis getting out of his Cadillac and sees his house on a daily basis. You talk about his modest house, but is it modest in terms of Colorado, or is it modest in terms of the world within the church operates. Colorado is far removed from the poor NCMI churches here in South Africa were members can’t afford life saving AIDS treatment. It is far removed from a world, and a country that gave birth to NCMI where mothers feel so desperate that they have to dump their newborn babies in riverbeds to die! This is the world that Tyrone lives in.

      Before any post was made I tried to contact Tyrone to confirm via telephonic means. I got hold of Mr Dotty and he refused to confirm and deny how Tyrone lived, he also refused to put me in contact with Tyrone. My wife attempted the same. What he did say is that the House and Cars were bought with the money he acquired from the sale of his property in Australia. So he did, in error confirm this.

      When I emailed Tyrone he replied that he has no comment. We ran a comparison and called a Baptist pastor in Colorado and asked him what he drives. Without hesitation he told us, and let me tell you, it was a humble ride. Remember that Christ Jesus rode into Jerusalem as King, but riding on a colt, also a very humble ride.

      You say Tyrone is not great, just a man doing a job. I remember back when I used to attend a NCMI church, the Sunday service was cancelled because Tyrone was preaching in another town. The entire church packed up, spent an enormous amount of resources to travel to this town just to see this “Great man”. It was almost like the Pope was visiting.

  2. I pastor a church North of Denver and have been to Tyrone’s house and it is not a million dollar house. The bike he rides is not the one they gave away. They do not have a building the just rented some office space and it is small. They are not nor have I ever heard them say they were a part of any denomation. I think if you are baseing your site on truth then you should get the facts. By the way I drive a 1999 Does truck or a 83 jeep when it is not broke.

  4. Ummm… ok. First of all and most of all I am annoyed more than anything else by the last word of this post: Blessings. What blessings are you bringing to people with this garbage? You sit at home blogging about how bad someone else is? Saying that a big north american house is a sin? What, do you live in a shack? And if you want to send “Blessings” to people why are you so angry when someone gets blessed?

    NCMI is a name and means nothing to me. I have a personal relationship with many of these guys who simply want to extend the gospel and plant churches all over the world.

    Who are you to tear down ANYTHING they do? Paul, the apostle, who could have claimed anything he wanted saw people spreading the gospel with bad motives and said “Whatever, the gospel is being preached.”

    And yet you have the BALLS to make an entire website dedicated to tearing people down?

    Churches aren’t perfect because people (like you and me) aren’t perfect. Get used to it. The best thing you can do is build people up in the faith instead of tearing them down.

    I’m pretty sure I saw a comment on another post of yours from someone saying “Yeah I’m glad I left the church”.

    I can see you’re bearing much fruit. Much fruit.

    1. Thank you for you post. I assume you are a devoted NCMI person and I assume you have not read much of the blog.

      The very reason we have this blog is because the only fruits NCMI have are those of destruction, control, manipulation, devotion to money and material things, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and many more. Yes churches are not perfect – but there is a huge difference between a lack of perfection and total destruction.

      Yes this blog is about the issues in NCMI but we also started this blog to reach those who have come to see the truth of NCMI. Often and if you read though comments you will see, when an individual comes to see the truth they do a 90 degree in the other direction – this is how great the destruction of NCMI is. A church should pull people to God NOT CHASE THEM AWAY!

      In just 1 week I have got report of three separate people in one small suburb who will never step foot in church again because of the behaviour or conduct of a NCMI church! I have report of a young man who is a pastors child, who attended a NCMI a few times and then the leadership began to demand to know of, and question his every action and where abouts!

      As for our fruits, well seen as you don’t know us, I guess it’s hard for you to tell!

      Please can you expand on your comment about Paul as you seem to have taken scripture out of context.

The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.

      Thank you for your out of context look at what Paul was saying. I presume that you not only follow NCMI, but at the same time follow emergent church theology which states that no matter what the motive, no matter what the means, if the Gospel is being preached and people are getting saved, then we should let it be. Do you believe Paul did not combat the wrong motives that were happening. Lets see the bible account about defending that faith from error. Lets also see what the bible states regarding public accusation.

      Let anyone that reads this and the comment above see how easy it is to take the bible out of context and how easy it is to fall into Heresy.

      2 Timothy 4:14 “Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds.”

      2 Peter 2:1 “But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves.”

      Romans 16:17 ” I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them.”

      Titus 1:13 “This testimony is true. Therefore drebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith”

      Titus 1:9 ” He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it”

      Ephesians 5:11 “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them”

      1 Timothy 5:20 “As for those who persist in sin, rebuke them in the presence of all, so that the rest may stand in fear.”

      1. The Lord in His word tells us to expose corruption
        and evil doing in the church and not to coverover
        sin and idolatry. Jesus has raised people like you to
        be Watchmen and to rapport and uncover blatant
        manipulation within the church. only make sure that
        by the testimony of two or three witnesses every
        accusation is verified. i would like to be one of the

    3. God the Father says to us to be perfect as He is perfect, go find it in Gods word, and look again in the word of God, the Holy Scriptures where it says, yes can you believe it, that elders are to be blameless
      and are to walk in complete truth and integrity. They are also to be full of the knowledge of Gods word.
      Elders are also leaders and shepherds, one must
      lay down ones life for those under his care, just as Christ did and not abuse the people in ones care.

    Yet I have attended an NCMI relating church for the last ten years and from the day I started I have drawn closer and closer and closer to God. It was like chalk and cheese before I joined an NCMI relating church.

    So we have two different testimonies here. What does that tell us?

Have you seen Tyrones house/car The Photo comparison between NCMI and the rest of the world is so ridiculous that no – one with half a brain would even consider it for a second! Does the rest of the world include USA? UK? France? Germany? … seriously you all need a head check … for a website that is called “Discover the Truth” this website is nothing but “Smoke and Mirrors”

    I am sorry I did not answer your question hastily… Unfortunately we besides answering emails and helping those overcome their issues with NCMI…. Well you know those starving children above – well we are busy trying our hardest to save and changed the lives of children, just as God has commanded – to look after the orphans.

    So to answer you – I have not seen his assets mentioned above but we have had numerous reports and confirmation from people living in his area or who once attended his church. We have even had confirmation from a pastor who rides bikes with him. And seen as you live near by him, you could always go and check it out yourself!

    The photo comparisons is a sick reality – in fact we want to pop by our local churches as they have revamped them to further support this reality.

  10. I am 24 years old, and reading all of this breaks my heart. I can only imagine how it is breaking God’s heart.

    Ray, whoever you are my dear friend, you have some deep hurts with either NCMI and/or Tyrone that ONLY God can heal that hate and bitterness. It seems that you and your husband are feeding off each other..you need to be careful my friend. God is the ultimate judge.

    I encourage you both to read Blessings and Cureses by Derek Prince. I dont think you understand what it means to bless or curse.

    A wise man once told me…when ministering to others always be pointing them to the Cross.

    Instead of tearing others down, why not blog about the things of the Lord and encourage your readers in the ways of the Lord? Your own vendetta is actually only hurting yourself and hindering your own walk with the Lord.

  11. Wow . . .! I have read what you have to say on this site and would like to quote from Psa 57.

    “I am in the midst of lions; I lie among ravenous beasts – men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.”

    I have belonged to an NCMI relating church for many years and i am shocked by the bitter words i have read in this website. I left a “traditional” church who excommunicated my father for asking them to use grape juice in stead of real wine for communion because there were many alcoholics in the church. I have found great freedom and an ever deepening love relationship with Jesus under the guidance of the people you so demonise.

    I realise that none of my comments will change your stance as you are obviously thoroughly committed to the smearing and ultimate destruction of a group of men who represent thousands of churches. You use the exception, the theatric and those who walk in anger as wood for your fire.

    What happened to “Keep on loving each other as brothers” (Heb13v1) or “Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you” (v17) And as for those leaders that stand under your judgement consider v 18. “Pray for us, We are sure we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way.”

    But most of all “May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing His will and may he work in us what is pleasing to Him through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

    The amazing part is that, if you love Jesus, I will meet you in heaven together with thousands of shepherds who you insist on smearing so horribly. I look forward to that meeting.

    It sounds to me like this guy has set himself up as the voice of God (he and his wife have prayed you see) and therefore he has a mandate to spew holy fire over the heathens who falsely claim they love Jesus.

    Every claim he makes is obviously true (he says so, and don’t forget that he did pray about it) Thousands left to die at the NCMI doorstep, horrible abuse by NCMI. (Burn them at the stake!)

      Hey, what are you on about? Are you truly saying that Christians cannot voice their opinions?

      Please anyone who reads this, read my original post and then this, and see who is angry. I presented scriptures, and I did not insult the person at all. In fact the last paragraph was aimed at building the individual up.

  13. Dear NCMI “Pastor/Priest/Lead Elder/Head honcho/Conductor/Showman/Evangelist/Actor/Preacher/Boss”

    I was wanting to visit your church the other day so I took a look at your web site.

    You are obviously very important as your picture is everywhere on the site as well the other people you call ‘elders’ who seem to be picture perfect and so happy and…almost…perfect! I didn’t think you guys were that good at Photoshop but you all look really good, like models!

    I was wondering where I could learn more about the ‘Good News’, what you Christians call ‘The Gospel’? Perhaps even meet God himself? Or Jesus, if God was busy with another church that day? I was wondering what Jesus thinks of your very well-structured meetings where most things are planned to the minute and flow like a well-oiled machine? I always thought Christians boasted about how ‘free’ they were?

    I stayed a little longer on your web site. I was hounded by all the programmes you have going and the many, many groups and outreaches and missions and “trips”. Wow! You guys are really busy! Do you even get time to invite your neighbours over for a meal at your house? Do you even know your neighbours?

    Talking about knowing people. It seems we may not even actually meet in person! At your one ‘campus’, (why it’s called that I don’t know! I still can’t find that in your Bible either!) you are there but only in image…i.e. on a big screen. So, from what I can gather, everybody in this church sits in front of a big screen and watches you deliver your masterpiece for the day… a slightly impersonal touch for someone such as I who still believes in the human need for physical interaction. Well, I suppose modern technology allows us to do fancy stuff like that – remove ourselves further from the people. The nice thing is I see you allow your church-goers and anybody online to download your wonderfully powerpointed sermons…at a small fee.

    I sifted through all the products you have for sale on the site (I had no choice, they were on every page I looked at): books and music, dvd’s and t-shirts, stickers and gifts and all kinds of weird and wonderful momentos. I noticed you even support some little village somewhere in a place no-one from your church has ever heard of or visited and continue to ask for donations to send them Bibles instead of food! Well done!

    I tried to dig a little deeper on the web site to see where you truly embraced community like the original church in Acts but I got very confused with all the hiearchy in your leadership structure and all the titles people had in front of their names. I still cannot find in your Bible where Paul addresses Peter as ‘apostle’ or ‘disciple’ or ‘pastor’… they just used their names from what I can see. Is it ok if I still call you by your name, as you will call me by my (title-less) name; if you do actually get a chance to get to know me out of the thousands of people that you say attend your church…

    Your site was so busy, all these things kept flashing at me telling me what to do, where to go, what to read, your latest sermon, your latest vision, your latest catchphrase, your latest revelation, your latest trend.. It was just too much for me to read! I was just trying to find some friends, some community, some fresh air outside of the religious nonsense so prevalent in our society. You seem to have all the answers, what with your ’10 steps to this’ and ‘5 keys to that’ and ‘How to pray like your pastor’ and ‘Keep giving us money’. I thought there must be something here. I kept looking, unfortunately.

    Your church seems like more of a business and an e-commerce site than a family. All over you are asking for donations for this or that and your banking details are very clearly displayed on most pages in case I felt the need to give you money. Why you would need my money I don’t know! You seem to be doing very well with that fancy 4×4, merc, harley-davidson and fortuner (and then your wife has the same in her favourite colours). I’m not sure what I’m paying for!

    I thought maybe, if you ever respond to this – although the likelihood of that happening is very slim – here are some things I really am NOT looking for when I come to visit your church:
    • A slick programme of events that are so well-timed I have no time to think, to pause, to meditate, to ask questions
    • Fake smiling people at the door who want my details so they can “follow up” on me. What exactly are you “following up” on?
    • An envelope on my chair that I have to pick up before I sit down and consider how much money I must give to your “ministry”
    • Fancy glossy brochures advertising all of your 50 different ‘ministries/life groups/elders/groups/programmes’ asking how I want to be involved or support or partner with each ministry…. really? Don’t you even want to know who I am or why I am seeking truth? You seem happy to ask for money before asking me my name.
    • Ear-drum-bursting music to blast my body to the back of your hall so I have to come forward for healing of my hearing at the end of your service
    • Fancy pancy graphics moving and shifting and jumping and swirling around on your screens while I am trying to read the 260 word song you’re endlessly repeating in the hope that some of your congregation will actually be able to remember some of the words and sing them without blankly staring up at the massive screen magically hypnotising (sorry, I meant mesmerising) the audience (oops, I meant congregation)
    • Alter call after alter call (again, still could not find this in your Bible) until enough people feel bad enough about their lives that they feel doomed if they don’t step up so someone (whose life is not any better) can physically lay hands on them and make them feel better (or worse)
    • I don’t want any of your super-nice imported coffee at your attempt of a trendy coffee shop while the very people in your community go hungry and thirsty every day.
    • I don’t need a list of “to-do’s” or a checklist of involvement in your church to be valued or known or acknowledged. I’d rather be known or acknowledged for who I am, not what I do.
    • I don’ t need to be dazzled by video promos made by your multimedia guy in the back showing off the latest ‘vision/ministry’ you’ve envisioned for your labourers (oops, I mean congregation) and pressuring everyone to ‘press in/get behind the leaders/add momentum to the vision/push in to God…’ I have a family, I have a job, I have a life, I have friends outside of your little kingdom mentality who need to know a real God in a real world
    • I don’t want to make friends in your church that I can only see for a few minutes every Sunday morning because outside of that they’re too busy with your church meetings and programmes to be able to get together for a drink or a meal
    • I don’t need you to tell me to tithe when it’s not a New Covenant principle or requirement in your very own Bible because I know all my money goes into your building everybody comes to on Sunday and nowhere else. I’d rather give my money to those who need it, and not the electricity bill for your palace you’ve built
    • People calling me ‘brother’ and telling me to ‘be blessed’ when I don’t even know what that really means and neither do they, it’s just a nice way of saying, “I don’t know you, I don’t want to know you and don’t have time to get to know you either, so please go away.”
    • Lastly, I am not looking for rules and regulations and laws to follow so that I fit into the mould you have made for your ‘followers’. I am free and need to be me, just the way God made me..not the way you want me to be.

    Our lord is the righteous judge, not us! If their hearts have the wrong motive they will pay for their sins for eternity, who our lord will judge not you! Please pray for them if you believe their hearts are wrong. Please shut this blog down and repent of all gossip! All you are doing is feeding on your emotions, which is the root to all evil!       The Kingdom of God will come about by people being honest, nice and doing what is right.

      It will not come about by defending and hiding bad practice and by shaming and silencing people who state the truth and seek to do the right thing.

      Your quote makes you look (to me) like a wacky person in a cult, who just quotes wall of scripture and cannot think for themselves. You need to get out and make other friends, from all walks of life.

    1. We will continue spreading the gospel, even in the midst of those who have an agenda that’s blatantly in the opposite direction of the Kingdom of God. Guys, come on! This is not new – the anti-Christ has always been running around with his ideas. Ray, dear (I nearly said ‘brother’), please find Christ and you will have all the peace. Know God Know Peace – No God No Peace. You are the weeds in Matthew 13. Just grow with the WHEAT. That day is coming!

  17. I will say this. To everyone defending NCMI or any other ‘relational. Alignment’ ministry. Your opinions do not over ride God’s word. All of these alignments etc are Condemned by God Isa 30.1 so. All of you involved in aligning the body? You repent. Never forget Mat 7.21 is said for a reason. Seek God cling to Jesus and follow Holy Spirit’s leading. None of the aligning ministries are sent by God.. so. There’s that.
